Lucasfilm announced that their new animated Star Wars series will begin airing this week, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The cartoons will launch on the Star Wars Kids portal and a Star Wars KidsYouTube channel on Friday, with six shorts being released all at once. More episodes will be released through December. Each installment will combine sorties with "fun and educational add-ons designed to help older fans, parents, and other mentors to welcome the kids in their lives to explore the galaxy far, far away."
Lucasfilm vp franchise content and strategy James Waugh said, "With Galaxy of Adventures, we wanted to craft something that allowed parents to help their kids take their first step into a much larger world whether they were ready to show their kids the films or wanted to find new ways to explore the content."
The new series will open "the beginning of a year-long celebration of Star Wars storytelling," leading up to the release of Star Wars Episode IX in December 2019.
