AMERICAN IDOL seventh runner-up Colton Dixon has announced on his YouTube channel that he has just inked a deal with EMI/CMG to release his new single, 'You Are.' Check out the announcement below!
The season 11 also-ran will release his disc under the Sparrow Records moniker, which is already home to fellow Idol contestant, Mandisa. Dixon describes his upcoming single "You Are' as a “worship song.” The singer currently performs another original tune titled "Never Gone" while on the Idol LIVE! Tour. That single will be made available on iTunes September 25.
The Christian artist earned high praise last season with his performances of Billy Joel’s “Piano Man,” Paramore’s “Decode,” and Eminem and Rihanna’s “Love the Way You Lie.” He was eliminated from the competition after a week which included his versions of Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance” and Earth, Wind, and Fire’s “September”. It was the first time he had appeared in the bottom 3 the entire season.
