UNDERGROUND: THE JULIAN ASSANGE STORY is the Australian telemovie which will air on Australia's Channel 10. The film covers the early years of the real founder of WikiLeaks and will make its world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival this month. Check out a clip below!
From the producers of Balibo and The Slap, the film follows an adolescent Assange who first comes to international notice as a teenage hacker living at home with his mother in suburban Melbourne. Alex Williams stars as the young Assange who uses his computer skills to hack into government security systems.
His mother Christine is played by Golden Globe-winning actress Rachel Griffiths, while Emmy winner Anthony LaPaglia plays the lead investigator charged with tracking the young hackers.
Ten executive producer Rick Maier said that the invitation to screen the film at the Toronto festival was, "not only great recognition for the film itself, and the bold leap of faith, but for the Australian television industry full stop."
