Nickelodeon's two-hour rock musical, "Spectacular!", which aired Monday at 8 p.m. with limited commercial interruption, drew 3.3 million total viewers and posted a 6.0 rating among the hoped for target young audience, ages 6 to 11. "Spectacular!" nearly doubled Nickelodeon's average in the time period among tweens and boosted it by 59% among kids 6-11.
The "Spectacular" hit the top spot on the iTunes soundtrack listing and number 14 on the Top Album chart, and it continues to have a solid hold on its placement.
Press notes describe the show as, "Nikko (Nolan Gerard Funk) is the next rock superstar and he plans to conquer the world with his band, Alloy. Courtney's (Tammin Sursok) world revolves around her sequin-filled show choir, Spectacular. But when Alloy kicks Nikko out of the band and Spectacular loses their best male singer to a rival choir, Courtney convinces Nikko to join Spectacular. Will Nikko be the force that Spectacular needs to finally beat their rival choir, Ta-Da? Or will Nikko's rock edge be too much for the glittery world of the show choirs? Get your jazz hands ready because this is going to be SPECTACULAR!"
