According to TVGuide.com, actor Daniel von Bargen, best known for his role as George Costanza's boss Mr. Kruger in the long-running NBC comedy SEINFELD, is currently in critical condition after he attempted to commit suicide by shooting himself in the head earlier this week.

The 61-year-old actor made a 911 call from his Cincinnati apartment Monday morning, telling the operator, "I've shot myself in the head and I need help."

Von Bargen is a diabetic who recently learned that his condition required immediate medical attention. From his bedside in a local Cincinnati hospital, the actor explained,  "I was supposed to go to the hospital and I didn't want to. So I shot myself... They were supposed to amputate at least a few toes."

The actor's other TV credits include a recurring role as Commandant Edwin Spangler on Malcolm in the Middle. In film, he has appeared in O Brother, Where Art Thou?, The Faculty and Super Troopers.
