CBS Films and eOne's Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark from Oscar winner Guillermo del Toro, is set to be released in theaters on August 9, 2019, according to Deadline.
André Øvredal is directing the movie with a script from Del Toro with Daniel and Kevin Hageman.
The film follows a group of young teens who must solve the mystery surrounding sudden and macabre deaths in a small town. It is based on Alvin Schwartz's Young Adult novel series, which Del Toro is a fan of. He even owns ten of the books' original illustrations by Stephen Gammell.
del Toro is producing with Sean Daniel, Elizabeth Grave, Jason F. Brown, and J. Miles Dale.
The film stars Zoe Colletti, Michael Garza, Gabriel Rush, Austin Abrams, Dean Norris, Gil Bellows, Lorraine Toussaint, Austin Zajur, and Natalie Ganzhorn.
