X-MEN producer Bryan Singer recently announced that the next film in the franchise will feature younger versions of original characters like Jean Grey, Cyclops, and Storm. Now, they have added Rose Byrne's Moira MacTaggert to the lineup.
MacTaggert was introduced in 2011's X-MEN: FIRST CLASS as a CIA agent, as well as Professor Xavier's love interest. APOCALYPSE writer Simon Kinberg (DAYS OF FUTURE PAST) calls her a "significant character" in the 2016 movie. "We ended First Class with Charles having wiped portions of her memory of her experience with the X-Men. They are, essentially, strangers to her when she meets them." Though Kinberg would not reveal how Byrne's character plays into the film, we bet vieweres can most certainly expect to see more develop in her relationship with Professor X.
"It's certainly a rich relationship that we started to dig into in First Class, and would like to mine more in this one."
X-MEN: APOCALYPSE hits theaters on May 27, 2016.
