ComingSoon.net says Golden Globe nominated actress Rose Byrne (Bridesmaids, Neighbors) has joined an upcoming CBS series called Lexi, where she will voice the titular AI assistant. Wanda Sykes (Curb Your Enthusiasm, Black-ish), Justin Hartley (Smallville, Little), Ron Funches (Undateable), and Charlyne Yi (The Disaster Artist) have also joined the cast.
Lexi will be a comedy that follows people who love their phone more than they love anything or anyone else. It is will be written and directed by Jon Lucas and Scott Moore, the duo behind The Hangover and Bad Moms.
"Speaking for everyone perpetually enamored with, and increasingly terrified by, how well their phone knows them, I look forward to this extraordinary group of actors and filmmakers exploring the side effects of too much tech," CBS Films' President Terry Press added. "I think audiences will agree that some romances are better when you disconnect."
The film also stars Adam Devine (Pitch Perfect), Alexandra Shipp (Tragedy Girls, Dark Phoenix) and Michael Pena (Ant Man and the Wasp).
