"All ages and cultures will be moved after watching this film. It's such a romantic notion that if you follow your heart, and are true to yourself, it leads to ultimate happiness," says Lise Romanoff, Managing Director and CEO of Worldwide Distribution at Vision Films.

Director Ramin Niami adds "Iranian-Americans in the United States are educated, successful and amiable. This is very different from how the media and film usually portray them-as either villains or victims. I wanted to show the light-hearted and fun side of Iranian culture. The film's lead, Shirin, a spirited and empowered woman, searches for her identity and falls in love. Through her and through the lens of romantic comedy, I wanted to show the richness of a community and promote peace and cultural understanding between Iranian and American cultures."

RogerEbert.com critic Godfrey Chesire testifies to the film's charms in his review: "Set among LA's well-heeled Iranian-American community, Ramin Niami's "Shirin in Love" blends tangy romantic comedy and tart social satire into a cinematic cocktail that's pleasingly off-beat, warm-spirited and knowing." Tom Nguyen of EnClave LA adds, "The onscreen chemistry between Boniadi and Smith is undeniable... A truly romantic film."

About the Film:

Shirin (Nazanin Boniadi), an absent-minded young Iranian-American, lives in "Tehrangeles" (the large Iranian community in Los Angeles) with her overbearing mother (Anita Khalatbari) and empathetic father (Marshall Manesh). Despite being engaged for years to a successful Iranian plastic surgeon in Beverly Hills (Maz Jobrani), Shirin finds herself breaking loyalty and tradition when she falls in love with a mysterious young man (Riley Smith) who lives in a lighthouse in Northern California near his mother, a famous novelist (Amy Madigan). As her secret unravels and cultures clash, with the intervention of a would-be screenwriter, who also happens to be a local cop (George Wallace), Shirin discovers what it ultimately means to be true to herself.
