Movie critic Rogert Ebert revealed on his blog on Wednesday that his TV show AT THE MOVIES will be going on hiatus indefinitely.

"Our public television program Ebert Presents At The Movies will go on hiatus while we find necessary funding. It was a sad but necessary moment of realism."

According to TVGuide.com, Ebert had attempted to gain financial support for his program last month.  The show had been financially backed solely by Kanbar Charitable Trust and out of pocket funds from himself and his wife, Chaz who executive produce the show.

Added Ebert in his blog, "We hope our hiatus will be brief. You have told us you like the show. And we now have options. A touching number of viewers offered to send us money directly...We will let you know as soon as that is worked out."

On the show's official web site, Chaz Ebert posted, To all those who have expressed concern about the future of "Ebert Presents at the Movies," thank you! We are moved by the response from friends, bloggers, viewers, newspaper writers and even heavyweights in the industry stepping up in an incredible effort to rally support for Roger and the "Ebert Presents" show."

It is clear that this show is valued and respected for the quality of content and programming, and the contribution it makes to the fabric of our culture. We are also pleased that so many of you agree with us about the talents of Christy Lemire, Ignatiy Vishnevetsky and our contributors.

AT THE MOVIES debuted in January and has produced 50 episodes.
