Variety reports that Academy Award winning actor Roberto Benigni will tour the United States with his solo show, TuttoDante (Everything About Dante).
Benigni's "one-man comic rendition of the medieval Italian epic poem -- TuttoDante (Everything About Dante)." "We have had a lot of requests to bring it abroad, even on Broadway in America..." stated Begnini at an earlier news conference.
TuttoDante will play San Francisco's Davies Symphony Hall on May 26th, New York City's Hammerstein Ballroom May 30th, with Boston's Berklee Performing Center to follow on June 6th, and then finally at stop at Chicago's Harris Theater June 12th.
Dante's Inferno is the most famous part of his three part 14th century spiritual epic poem The Divine Comedy.
Benigni won an Oscar for his performance in his tragiccomic 1994 film La Vita è bella (Life is Beautiful), which he co-wrote and directed. The hit movie also won Best Foreign Language Film. Other films include La Tigre et la neve (The Tiger and the Snow), Coffee and Cigarettes, Pinocchio, and Il Mostro.
