Fans are set to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the reboot of the hit BBC series DOCTOR WHO at a special screening of the Hugo award-nominated episode "Dalek," with live commentary from episode writer Robert Shearman on Saturday, May 2 at 4pm at The Way Station in Brooklyn.
"Dalek" reintroduced fan-favorite villains the Daleks to a new generation of fans, and the episode consistently tops lists ranking the best DOCTOR WHO episodes of the modern series.
Shearman appears in support of the New York premiere of his Sunday Times award-winning play EASY LAUGHTER which opens April 30. Shearman will also participate in a Q&A to follow the screening and will give away a prize pack which includes pair of tickets to EASY LAUGHTER. The free event runs until 6pm at The Way Station at 683 Washington Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11238.
Shearman's commentary will give DOCTOR WHO fans old and new a look behind the scenes of "Dalek," his seminal episode from the BAFTA award-winning first series of the reboot of Doctor Who.
The event comes courtesy of Dirt [contained] Theatre Company, who bring Shearman to New York for the EASY LAUGHTER premiere. Dirt [contained] co-founders Tana Sirois and Maria Swisher said EASY LAUGHTER is perhaps "more relevant today than when it was written: boldly confronting xenophobia, extremism, state surveillance and government control."
