The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle, starring Robert Downey Jr., has set a new release date of January 17, 2020, according to Variety.
The latest cinematic adaptation of the children's books about a medical professional with some stunning linguistic abilities was initially slated to debut on April 12, 2019, but Universal Studios decided to move it to a less competitive time of year. Spring 2019 sees the release of films like Disney's "Dumbo" and Warner Bros.' "Shazam!."
"The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle" is directed by Stephen Gaghan and will also star Antonio Banderas and Michael Sheen, along with voice talent including Tom Holland, Ralph Fiennes, Emma Thompson, Octavia Spencer, and Kumail Nanjiani.
Universal will use the April 12th date to release "Little," a comedy with "Black-ish" star Marsai Martin that was originally intended to debut on Sept. 20, 2019. "Little" centers on a woman who gets to relive her carefree childhood when adulthood gets to be too much to bear.
