Rob Lowe has joined the cast of the medical drama CODE BLACK as a series regular. His character will be introduced in the series' second season premiere, Wednesday, Sept. 28 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

Lowe will play Colonel Ethan Willis, a doctor in the U.S. Military's prestigious Combat Casualty Care research program who has been pulled out of a combat hospital in Afghanistan and embedded at Angels Memorial to teach what the military has learned about combat medicine. His aggressive, rule-breaking style is greeted enthusiastically by Dr. Leanne Rorish (Marcia Gay Harden), but not by all the other doctors.

Earlier this year, Lowe received a Best Actor Golden Globe nomination for his starring role in the FOX comedy "The Grinder."

From 1999-2003, Lowe starred in the hit television drama "The West Wing." His performance garnered him an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama series, as well as two Golden Globe nominations for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series. The cast was nominated three times by the Screen Actors Guild for an Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series award, and won twice. In 2010, Lowe joined the cast of "Parks and Recreation," after starring in the hit series "Brothers & Sisters." Also, Lowe received critical acclaim and a leading actor nomination from the Screen Actors Guild for his starring role in the television movie "Killing Kennedy," which garnered an Emmy nomination. He received a Golden Globe nomination for his co-starring role in the 15-time Emmy nominated television movie, "Behind the Candelabra."

Lowe rose to fame with starring roles in movies such as "The Outsiders," "Oxford Blues," "About Last Night," "Bad Influence," "St. Elmo's Fire," "Wayne's World," "Tommy Boy" and "Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me."

Lowe's two books, his memoirs Stories I Only Tell my Friends and Love Life, both landed spots on the New York Times bestseller list. Lowe's legacy in Hollywood was cemented in 2015 with the unveiling of his Walk of Fame star.

CODE BLACK also stars Marcia Gay Harden, Luis Guzman, Melanie Chandra, Harry Ford, Benjamin Hollingsworth, Jillian Murray, Boris Kodjoe and William Allen Young.
