Multi-award-winning and critically acclaimed stand-up comedian, Rob Delaney, best known as the co-star and co-writer of the globally successful Catastrophe, is set to host the brand-new series of Comedy Central UK's established stand-up showcase, Stand Up Central. The eight-part series, produced by Avalon, will air on Comedy Central UK from 10th October at 10pm.
Each 30-minute episode will see BAFTA Award winner and Emmy Award nominee Rob perform to a live audience alongside two hand-picked comedy acts; a well-known headliner and an exciting new support act. Filmed at the legendary Electric Ballroom in Camden, expect side-splitting performances from headliners Jon Richardson (8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown), Paul Chowdhry (Taskmaster), Mo Gilligan (The Russell Howard Hour), Luisa Omielan (Live at the Apollo), Sara Pascoe (W1A), Suzi Ruffell (Roast Battle), Iain Stirling (Love Island) and Joe Wilkinson (Him & Her, 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown), as well as performances from support acts including Rob Auton (The Russell Howard Hour), Flo & Joan (stars of Nationwide ad campaign), Adam Hess (ITV's Tonight at the Palladium), Emily Lloyd-Saini (W1A), Glenn Moore (Mock The Week), Nigel Ng (winner of Amused Moose Laugh Off 2016), Ahir Shah (The Mash Report) and Tom Ward (Live from the BBC).
Rob Delaney said "I am so excited to present Stand Up Central. It was so fun to make and I can't wait for everyone to see the amazing comics we've assembled. Also I needed a place to stay for a few nights because my wife's nephews from her previous marriage were visiting and I hate them."
The three previous series of Stand Up Central, first hosted by Russell Howard and then by Chris Ramsey, delivered strong ratings for the channel. First launching in 2015, the show has reached 7.3 million Individuals across Comedy Central and Comedy Central Extra.
The series is part of Comedy Central UK's ongoing push to diversify its British comedy offering and increase the volume of non-scripted comedy it broadcasts. Most recently, Comedy Central aired its most successful commission to date, Roast Battle, has commissioned Talkback to produce a third and fourth series of noughties gameshow, Your Face or Mine and, earlier this year, aired the channel's first ever topical chat show, The Chris Ramsey Show, also produced by Avalon.
