Return of COMMUNITY is Ratings Winner for NBC

The highly-anticipated return of the NBC comedy series COMMUNITY (4.9 million, 2.2) earned a ratings win for the network last night and pulling in the best numbers for that time slot since January of 2011. 30 Rock (4 million, 2.0) also earnEd Strong numbers for the network, while The Office (4.9 million, 2.3) saw a rating's decline. 

The Fox network won the night in the all-important adults 18-49 demographic, averaging a 3.4 rating in primetime from the American Idol results show (15.5 million, 4.5). A repeat of Touch (8.7 million, 2.2) which followed Idol earned second place in the 9 p.m. hour.

The CBS network averaged 4.6 million viewers and a 1.7 rating, putting it in fourth place for the night behind the CW.

ABC's new drama series Missing (10.6 million, 2.0), starring Ashley Judd, was not off to as strong a start as the network was hoping for. This week's Grey's Anatomy (9.7 million, 3.0) declined slightly in the ratings while Private Practice (7 million, 2.2) saw an incresase.

The CW's Vampire Diaries (2.6 million, 1.2) returned with decreasing numbers from its last original episode in February.
