Retired astronaut Mark Kelly, husband of former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords, won't rule out eventually running for political office, he tells Lee Cowan in an interview for CBS SUNDAY MORNING WITH CHARLES OSGOOD to be broadcast today, March 15, 2015 (9:00 AM ET) on the CBS Television Network.
Giffords (D-AZ) political career was cut short in 2011 when she was shot in the head by a gunman who killed six others. Lately, there has been speculation that one or both of them could run for political office. "You never say never. It's not something I have planned," Kelly tells Cowan. "You know, right circumstances, I might consider it." "Maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe," Giffords tells Cowan when asked if she'll run for office. Giffords was just starting her third term in Congress in 2011 when, during a meeting with constituents at a Safeway supermarket parking lot in Tucson, a gunman opened fire. A dozen people were injured and six were killed. Giffords was left with a bullet in her brain. She resigned from congress in January 2012. Giffords is still recovering from her injuries, she tells Cowan she's "a little bit better" every day.Videos
