Reese Witherspoon confirms Legally Blonde 3 with nostalgic social media video! The star posted a video in the famous Elle Woods bikini from the first film with the caption "It's true... #LegallyBlonde3". Check out the video!

Legally Blonde 3 will reunite Smith and McCullah, who started out as a writing team before going their separate ways, after generating such comedies as Legally Blonde, 10 THINGS I Hate About You and House Bunny. The film is currently scheduled for a release date of Valentines Day (February 14) 2020.

Legally Blonde is a 2001 American comedy film based on the novel of the same name by Amanda Brown. It was directed by Robert Luketic, scripted by Karen McCullah Lutz and Kirsten Smith, and stars Reese Witherspoon, Luke Wilson, Selma Blair, Matthew Davis, Victor Garber, and Jennifer Coolidge. The film tells the story of Elle Woods, a sorority girl who attempts to win back her ex-boyfriend by getting a law degree. It was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture: Musical or Comedy and ranked 29th on Bravo's 2007 list of "100 Funniest Movies". Witherspoon received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress - Motion Picture Musical or Comedy, and the 2002 MTV Movie Award for Best Female Performance.

The box office success led to a 2003 sequel, Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde, and a 2009 direct-to-DVDspin-off, Legally Blondes. Additionally, Legally Blonde: The Musical premiered on January 23, 2007, in San Francisco and opened in New York City at the Palace Theatre on Broadway on April 29, 2007, starring Laura Bell Bundy.

Witherspoon's breakthrough as Elle Woods in the 2001 comedy, Legally Blonde (2001) was a box-office smash and established Reese as one of the top female draws in Hollywood. The next year, she scored a follow-up hit with Sweet Home Alabama(2002), which went on to gross over $100 million dollars at the box office. In 2006, she took home the best actress Oscar for her role as June Carter Cash in the Johnny Cashbiopic, Walk the Line (2005). In the late 2000s and early 2010s, Reese continued to star in more romantic comedies, such as Four Christmases (2008) and How Do You Know(2010). In December 2010, she received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. In the year 2014, she produced both Gone Girl (2014) and Wild (2014), for which she got nominated for best actress Oscar again for her role as Cheryl Strayed. Recently Witherspoon has been seen in the HBO series Big Little Lies, A Wrinkle in Time, and Wild. The actress owns Hello Sunshine production company and a fashion line, Draper James.
