Washington Redskins Quarterback Robert Griffin III might be the one thing that can bring Republicans and Democrats together, reports CBS News National Correspondent Chip Reid in a report that will be broadcast Dec. 1 on CBS THIS MORNING: SATURDAY (check local listings) on the CBS Television Network.
In a short time, the 22-year-old Griffin has earned a lot of fans on Capitol Hill. Political leaders, such as Congressman Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) and former Republican vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan, have noticed the rising star. Van Hollen tells Reid, “I think Congress would love to trade our approval ratings for his approval ratings, and the reason is he’s able to bring people together.” Besides football, Griffin knows a thing or two about politics. He attended Baylor University and graduated in just three years with a political science major. “I definitely pay attention to politics,” he tells Reid.Videos
