Red Sea Media has assembled a robust slate in the last few months, including two new projects that the sales company has acquired worldwide sales rights for. Red Sea will be introducing the projects at the upcoming AFM, which feature A-listers and rising stars such as Jesse Eisenberg, Michael McKean, Jason Ritter, and Jess Weixler. Red Sea Media's sales office will be located at the Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel, Suite 732.
Red Sea has acquired the offbeat romantic comedy FREE SAMPLES, which marks the feature film debut of director Jay Gammill. Written by Jim Beggarly ("The Kitchen"), and produced by Eben Kostbar and Joseph McKelheer for Film Harvest, the film tells the story of a law-school dropout who fills in as a server at her friend's ice cream truck, doling out free samples to locals and oddball friends alike, including a man courting her who she barely remembers from the night before.
Jess Weixler ("Teeth") leads a cast that includes
Jesse Eisenberg ("The Social Network") and
Jason Ritter ("Parenthood"). The film is currently available for all territories worldwide excluding North America.
SLEEPING AROUND, directed by Leslie Greif ("Funny Money"), is the second title to be announced for the slate. This screwball sex comedy follows two couples and their ten rules to a happy healthy and open relationship. The film stars
Jesse Bradford ("Flags of Our Fathers"),
Michael McKean ("A Mighty Wind"),
Wendi McLendon-Covey ("Bridesmaids"), and was produced by Greif, Harry Basil ("Meet Wally Sparks") and Herb Nanas ("Hatfields & McCoys"). Executive producing are Giancarlo Arduini, Bart Blatstein, M. Gohar,
Kevin Mitchell and Alan Ett. The film is also available for all territories worldwide excluding North America.
"I'm proud to be selling Free Samples and Sleeping Around," said Roman Kopelevich, CEO of Red Sea Media. "As with Frankie Go Boom, these films have heart and are both engaging and funny."
Also on tap for Red Sea at AFM is the thriller SEARCHING FOR SONNY starring
Minka Kelly and Jason Dohring. Directed by Andrew Disney, and produced by Greg Beauchamp and Red Saunders for Red Productions and Shawn Griffith and Dennis Bishop, the film revolves around reunited friends who find themselves the chief suspects of a murder mystery that seems eerily similar to a play they performed in high school.
