Recording Artist Gloria Estafan to Play Santana's Mother on GLEE

As first reported on EWonline, recording artist Gloria Estafan is currently in talks to star as Santana's mother in the popular Fox series GLEE.

On this week's episode of GLEE, Santana's grandmother made an appearance and expressed her strong disapproval of her grandaughter's sexual preferences. While there was mention of Santana's parents, the couple was not included in the dramatic 'coming out' episode.

It had been previously reported that latin recording artist Ricky Martin will be making an upcoming appearance on GLEE in the role of the school's new Spanish teacher.  It is expected that Estefan will be appearing in the same episode.  According to the article's source, the cast is “really really big fans of hers and we love her music and her husband’s music.”

Estefan's original music will be used in the upcoming episode along with some additional bilingual songs.
