The multi-talented and dynamic Hispanic television star Raul Gonzalez joins Telemundo to develop and host a new variety series and will contribute to multiple series and specials. The first of such specials he will host will be the prestigious Billboard Latin Music Awards Presented by State Farm to be broadcast live on Telemundo on April 24th at 7p/6c. A prolific television writer, producer and host, Gonzalez has been named "Best Television Host" by People en Español twice and most recently was co-host of Univision's morning show "Despierta America."

"We are thrilled to have one of the top TV personalities in Spanish language television join Telemundo's exclusive talent roster," said Jesus Torres Viera, Executive Vice President of Programming for Telemundo Network. "Raul's extensive experience in television and theater combined with his dynamic personality and unique ability to connect with the audience will be a great addition to our team."

"I am delighted to be joining the team at Telemundo and for the trust they have shown in me," said Gonzalez. "I am a firm believer in following your dreams and for me hosting a prime time series has always been one of my major goals. We share a passion for quality television and will bring our audience the programming they want and deserve. I look forward to working with everyone at Telemundo and NBCUniversal for years to come."
A 36 year veteran of the entertainment industry, Gonzalez began his career in children's theater in his native Caracas. In his early twenties, he hosted a kids' TV show, "Supercropolis," and in 1994 he moved to Miami. In 2001, Gonzalez became one of the hosts of Univision's "Despierta America," where for the next 13 years he was part of the team that led the popular morning show to the leadership position it enjoys today in Spanish language television. He also had the honor to co-host the world's longest running variety show, "Sabado Gigante" on several occasions. Gonzalez has written, produced and starred in several award winning plays such as: "Visa por un Sueño" and "Gordura de mi Vida" to sold out audiences across the country.
