Telemundo announced today that the 2013 Billboard Mexican Music Awards will be hosted by leading telenovela actor Rafael Amaya and the talented and beautiful actress Aylin Mujica. The third annual Awards show, set to broadcast live on Wednesday, October 9 at 7pm/6c from the legendary Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California, is the only awards show on a major network that honors Mexican music. Rafael Amaya is without a doubt one of today's most sought-after Hispanic film and television actors, with an artistic career that includes leading roles in Telemundo original productions, theater, film in Spanish and English and successful television series in Europe. He has also hosted various specials for the network and was the lead actor in the 2013 ratings record setting series "El Señor de los Cielos" on Telemundo, for which he received the "Mero Mero" award at the recent Premios Tu Mundo. Since he joined Telemundo, Rafael has participated in telenovelas that have captivated U.S. and international audiences, such as the successful production "La Reina del Sur," where he played the famous role of "El Guero" Davila alongside actress Kate del Castillo from the hit Showtime series "Weeds." After this great success, he held a leading role in "Alguien Te Mira" and co-hosted the "Billboard Mexican Music Awards," the "Billboard Latin Music Awards" and the first broadcast of "Premios Tu Mundo." Born in Hermosillo, Mexico, he achieved his crossover with the Hallmark Television film titled "Meddling Mom," which became the third highest rated film in the history of the English language network. His other film credits include "Desnudos," "Asi del Precipicio," "Caliz," "Amor Letra por Letra," "Fotonovela," "Pepe & Santo vs. America," "The Fighter" and "Atrocious," among others. Rafael was included as one of the "50 Most Beautiful" in this year's People en Español.

With a background that expands through music, film, theater and television, Aylin Mujica's talent has allowed her to work in successful telenovelas and special programs that have positioned her as an established artist in the U.S. and Latin America. Among her most recent work at Telemundo are the original productions "Corazón Valiente" and "Aurora," in addition to hosting the "Billboard Latin Music Awards" on various occasions. Aylin will soon host "Top Chef: Estrellas," the first Spanish-language version of Bravo Media's Emmy and James Beard award-winning culinary competition series "Top Chef." The beautiful actress, who has appeared among the "Most Beautiful" in the prestigious People en Español magazine, began her artistic career in film and theater in her native Cuba. She later relocated to Mexico where she joined the world of telenovelas. Her participation in successful international productions have consolidated her as an audience favorite and made her a recipient of a variety of awards including Premio ACE, Solo de Oro and the Golden Mike among others.

Finalists for the 2013 Billboard Mexican Music Awards vie for top honors in 32 categories, including Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Artist of the Year-New, Digital Download Artist of the Year, Airplay Artist of the Year, and various categories for Banda, Norteño, Ranchero/Mariachi and Duranguense/Grupero/Cumbia Music. The list of finalists is led by Gerardo Ortiz, the late Jenni Rivera, La Arrolladora Banda el Limon de Rene Camacho, Roberto Tapia, Voz de Mando, Banda El Recodo de Cruz Lizarraga, Calibre 50, 3BallMTY and Joan Sebastian.
