Fans of horror and gore rejoice. NBC is planning to turn two of literature's most classic frightfests into upcoming miniseries. The news was announced at this year's TCA upfronts over the weekend.
First up will be the extraterrestrial tale, THE TOMMYKNOCKERS, from 'Under the Dome' scribe Stephen King. The story of an alien spacecraft which descends on a small Maine town was originally made into an ABC miniseries starring Jimmy Smits in 1993. Yves Simoneau is set to helm this latest version.
ROSEMARY'S BABY, one of the earliest works from 'Stepford Wives' author Ira Levin, is also heading to the peacock network. The saga follows a young married couple who find themselves involved with satanists. Many will recall 1968's chilling big screen adaptation of the novel from award winning director Roman Polanski. Scott Abbott will pen the NBC version.
Also on tap for NBC will be two historical miniseries, one highlighting the life and times of Secretary of State and presidential also-ran Hilary Clinton. The other will follow the first European settlers in New England.
