A highlight of the 19th season of Religion & Ethics NewsWeekly which began Friday, September 4, will be substantial coverage of Pope Francis' visit to the United States in a special three-part series scheduled to be fed over PBS at 5:00 p.m. EST on September 18, 25 and October 2 (check local listings). Please note, updated listings about these three programs, which will focus on different aspects of the pontiff's visit, will be sent to you on the Wednesday - beginning today - prior to the Friday feed date.

September 18: Kim Lawton will look at Catholic social teaching and the beliefs that undergird what Francis has been saying and doing on issues including poverty, immigration, the environment and the family. Host Bob Abernethy and Lawton will also have an on-set discussion with experts, anticipating the trip and the Pope's messages.

September 25: As Pope Francis heads to the World Meeting of Families in Philadelphia, correspondent Deborah Potter will look at some of the controversial family issues facing the church, as well as the possibility of some changes in Catholic practice. Bob Abernethy and Kim Lawton will lead an on-set discussion analyzing the trip.

October 2, Bob Abernethy, Kim Lawton and Catholic experts will have another on-set discussion looking at the impact of the trip.

In addition, Religion & Ethics NewsWeekly will be posting exclusive "extras" tied to the trip on the web and social media.
