REAL SPORTS WITH BRYANT GUMBEL caps another season of enterprising reporting with a roundtable review of its most memorable moments this year when the series' 261st edition, available in HDTV, debuts TUESDAY, DEC. 18 (10:00 p.m. ET/PT & 9:00 p.m. CT) on HBO.

The series is also available on HBO NOW, HBO GO, HBO On Demand and partners' streaming platforms.

Departing from the show's regular format, host Bryant Gumbel leads correspondents Mary Carillo, Bernard Goldberg, Jon Frankel, Andrea Kremer, Soledad O'Brien and David Scott in a spirited discussion, recapping 2018's most significant stories. This year's season finale will also feature Gumbel huddling with the correspondents in smaller groups to drill deeper into noteworthy issues and discoveries.

In 2018, REAL SPORTS traveled throughout the U.S. and internationally to explore unique and compelling subjects, including: the extraordinary world of freediving in the Philippines; the harrowing risks taken by Sherpas who assist adventure seekers attempting to climb Mt. Everest; a remarkable update on the undercover expose that revealed the enslavement of children as jockeys in the Middle Eastern sport of camel racing; an eye-opening report on the concussion crisis in the NHL; the alarming, often unchecked influence of COLLEGE FOOTBALL strength and conditioning coaches; and the burden facing former NFL players trying to obtain compensation from the landmark concussion settlement with the league.

Also in the mix on the year-end special are: insightful profiles of Roger Bennett and Michael Davies, who make up the MEN IN BLAZERS broadcast team; trailblazer Doris Burke of ESPN; NASCAR's Dale Earnhardt Jr.; golf wizard Tommy Morrissey; St. Louis billionaire Rex Sinquefield's quest to reenergize chess; tennis great Margaret Court's UNCOMPROMISING views on gay rights; and memorable one-on-one interviews with Shaquille O'Neal, Derek Jeter and NHRA drag racer John Force.

Premiering on HBO in April 1995, REAL SPORTS WITH BRYANT GUMBEL has won 33 Sports Emmy® Awards, including 18 for Outstanding Journalism; four Columbia University-duPont Journalism Awards; and two George F. Peabody Awards for excellence in broadcast journalism.

The executive producers of REAL SPORTS WITH BRYANT GUMBEL are Peter Nelson, Rick Bernstein and Joe Perskie; senior coordinating producer, Nick Dolin; coordinating producer, Tim Walker; producers, Lisa Bennett, Maggie Burbank, Chapman Downes, Josh Fine and Jordan Kronick; associate producers, Max Gershberg, Nisreen Habbal, Naimah Jabali-Nash, Katie Melone, Beret Remak and Jake Rosenwasser; production associates, Evan Burgos, Daniel Litke, Emmett Knowlton and James Grachos.
