According to Variety, VH1 has green-lighted a new movie from Queen Latifah's Production Company.

As of now the film is untitled, but it's a comedic drama about two young female African-American best friends with two different dating philosophies. The movie, set in Atlanta, follows Val, an striving fashion bigwig and former music video dancer Keisha.

VH1 is looking to add more variety to their mainly reality show programming by moving in the direction of more scripted programs.

Movie nights at VH1 in the past have featured made-for-TV pictures including Chris Kattan's "Totally Awesome," in 2006.

Queen Latifah will serve as executive producers in association with her label Flavor Unit. Stacy Littlejohn ("All of Us," "Life With Bonnie") wrote the film and will also executive produce. Other executive producers include Maggie Malina and Jeff Olde.

If the film turns out to be a success there is a chance that the project could turn into a regular series.

Flavor Unit and Queen Latifah have worked with VH1 in the past on the reality special "Broke and Famous: Willie Aames." Queen Latifah also developed the VH1/BET pilot of "Wifey." Her other TV movie producing credits include HBO's "Life Support."

The actress and music star has also produced the features "Beauty Shop," "Burning Down the House" and "The Cookout." Queen Latifah received an Oscar nomination for her role of Mama Morton in the film version of CHICAGO and also played Motormouth Maybelle in the film version of HAIRSPRAY.
