In anticipation of ROADSIDE ATTRACTIONS' April 15, 2011 nationwide release of The American Film Company's debut film, THE CONSPIRATOR, the words of President Abraham Lincoln (@1865lincoln) will come to digital life via Twitter. Beginning on Lincoln's birthday, February 12, 2011, just over 200 years after Lincoln's birth, the spoken words and writings of the former president will reach a new generation through the power and influence of Twitter.

Followers of @1865Lincoln can experience and share a dynamic collection of Lincoln's own words as well as an intriguing selection of little-known facts about the conspiracy that led to his assassination. @1865Lincoln will surprise and inspire followers ahead of the release of THE CONSPIRATOR, which tells the fascinating true story of Mary Surratt (played by Robin Wright), the only woman tried as a conspirator in the plot to assassinate President Abraham Lincoln and to decapitate the United States government.

April 2011 will mark the sesquicentennial - or 150th - anniversary of the start of the Civil War. Hundreds of events around the country - as diverse as battle re-enactments, scholarly panel discussions and parades - are planned to commemorate the historical anniversary, and media outlets such as The Washington Post and The New York Times are devoting special print and online sections to the subject. @1865Lincoln will bring the zeitgeist of this era to vivid life through words and events that changed the course of American history.

Directed by Robert Redford, THE CONSPIRATOR stars Robin Wright and James McAvoy and features an incredible ensemble cast including Alexis Bledel, Badge Dale, Jonathan Groff, Danny Huston,Toby Kebbell, Kevin Kline, Justin Long, Colm Meaney, Stephen Root, Tom Wilkinson and Evan Rachel Wood.

Set in the in the wake of Abraham Lincoln's assassination, THE CONSPIRATOR is the incredible true story of the one woman (Robin Wright) - along with the seven men - arrested and charged with conspiring to kill the President, the Vice-President, and the Secretary of State.

Against the ominous back-drop of post-Civil War Washington, newly-minted lawyer, Frederick Aiken (James McAvoy), a 28-year-old Union war-hero, reluctantly agrees to defend Surratt before a military tribunal. As the trial unfolds, Aiken realizes his client may be innocent and that she is being used as bait and hostage in order to capture the only conspirator to have escaped a massive manhunt, her own son.
