According to TVGuide.com, CNN talk show host Piers Morgan will be leaving his post as judge of the popular NBC show AMERICA'S GOT TALENT in order to focus on his new talk show at CNN. Morgan wrote on his Twitter account yesterday, "I'm leaving America's Got Talent after 6 wonderful years. Turned out that juggling's harder than it looks, so I'm going to focus on CNN. Big thanks to NBC, Fremantle, and of course, my friend Simon Cowell, for giving me such a great opportunity. It's been a blast."
Morgan has appeared as a judge on the talent competition since its beginning, six years ago. He was recently chosen to fill the shoes of retiring CNN talk show host, Larry King.
This will not be the first changeover in judges for the NBC talent show. Sharon Osborne came on board after Season One of the show to replace judge Brandy Norwood. Comedian Howie Mandel took over in 2010 after judge David Hasselhoff left his post. In addition, current host Nick Cannon is the third celebrity to take the reins after Regis Philbin and Jerry Springer gave up the position.
A successor to Morgan has not yet been named.
