The highly anticiapted Ellen Page and Julianne Moore film FREEHELD was recognized at The Toronto International Film Festival this year. The film focuses on New Jersey police lieutenant, Laurel Hester, and her registered domestic partner, Stacie Andree, both battle to secure Hester's pension benefits when she is diagnosed with terminal cancer.
The Toronto International Film Festival is the leading public film festival in the world, bringing the power of film to life each September, since 1976.
TIFF are proud to champion films and filmmakers from across the globe. At the Festival, TIFF helps audiences discover a diverse array of films, including the best in international cinema, the latest homegrown Canadian talent, Hollywood galas (complete with red-carpet glamour), and everything in between. As the years show, the Festival continues to achieve these objectives by bringing together a remarkable diversity of local, national and international films and personalities, to the delight of enthusiastic audiences, who have flocked to the Festival over THE PAST 40 years.
