Philadelphia Flyers Host Boston Bruins In NBC Sports' NHL Game of The Week This Sunday  Image

NBC Sports' coverage of the NHL this week is highlighted by a pair of Eastern Conference clashes with playoff implications on Sunday, as Claude Giroux and the Philadelphia Flyers host Brad Marchand and the Boston Bruins in the NHL Game of the Week Sunday at 12 p.m. ET on NBC.

Sunday's coverage shifts to NBCSN at 7:30 p.m. ET, when Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins host Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals, as both teams battle for the Metropolitan Division title.

This week's NHL coverage on NBCSN begins a home-and-home series featuring the Capitals and New York Rangers. Mats Zuccarello and the Rangers will host the Capitals tonight at 7:30 p.m. ET, followed by a Wednesday Night Rivalry clash in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET on NBCSN.

Coverage continues on Thursday night at 8 p.m. ET on NBCSN, as Eric Staal and the Minnesota Wild host Jamie Benn and the Dallas Stars.

Post-game coverage on NHL OVERTIME will air on NBCSN immediately following this week's games.

BRUINS-FLYERS - SUNDAY AT 12 P.M. ET ON NBC

Boston (47-17-10, 104 pts) has clinched a playoff spot and enter the week just two points behind Tampa Bay for the best record in both the Atlantic Division and Eastern Conference. The Bruins defeated the Wild in overtime last night on NBCSN by a score of 2-1, as Brad Marchand scored his fifth overtime game-winner of the season for Boston.

Philadelphia (38-25-13, 89 pts) currently occupies the first Wild Card position in the Eastern Conference, and enters the week following a 5-4 overtime loss to Pittsburgh in the NHL Game of the Week on Sunday on NBC. Sean Couturier scored the game-tying goal in the final minute of regulation to give Philadelphia a much-needed point. Claude Giroux is ranked fifth in the NHL with 91 points.

Five-time Emmy Award-winner Mike "Doc" Emrick (play-by-play), U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame member Eddie Olczyk (analyst), and Emmy Award-winner Pierre McGuire ('Inside-the-Glass' analyst) will call Bruins-Flyers from Wells FARGO Center in Philadelphia, Pa.

CAPITALS-PENGUINS - SUNDAY AT 7:30 P.M. ET ON NBCSN

Washington (44-24-7, 95 pts) currently leads Pittsburgh by three points atop the Metropolitan Division, and has won three straight games, including a 6-4 win against Montreal on Saturday. Alex Ovechkin currently leads the league with 44 goals, but has been held without a point in his past two games. Evgeny Kuznetsov has second-most goals on the club (23) and scored twice in Washington's win vs. Montreal.

The Penguins (43-27-6, 92 pts) earned their Eastern Conference-leading 28th home win of the season on Sunday against Philadelphia, led by a goal and an assist from Sidney Crosby. Evgeni Malkin scored his 42nd goal of the season in the win, and currently sits two behind Ovechkin for most in the NHL.

John Forslund (play-by-play) and Joe Micheletti ('Inside-the-Glass' analyst) will call Capitals-Penguins from PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pa.

RANGERS-CAPITALS - TONIGHT AT 7:30 P.M. ET AND ON WEDNESDAY NIGHT RIVALRY AT 8 P.M. ET ON NBCSN

New York (33-34-8, 74 pts) enters the week following a 5-1 win against Buffalo on Saturday. Jimmy Veseyrecorded three points in the win, Mika Zibanejad scored for the fifth consecutive game, and rookie goaltender Alexandar Georgiev made 43 saves in net.

These are the third and fourth meetings of the season between the Rangers and Capitals this season. The Caps defeated the Rangers by a score of 4-2 on Dec. 8 in Washington, while the Rangers earned a 1-0 shootout win on Dec. 27 at Madison Square Garden.

Forslund (play-by-play) and Micheletti ('Inside-the-Glass' analyst) will call Monday's game from Madison Square Garden, and Forslund, Milbury (analyst), and McGuire ('Inside-the-Glass' analyst) will call the Wednesday Night Rivalry matchup from Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C.

STARS-WILD - THURSDAY AT 8 P.M. ET ON NBCSN

Minnesota (42-24-9, 93 pts) currently occupies third place in the CROWDED Central Division, three points clear of Colorado and four points ahead of St. Louis in the first and second Wild Card spots in the Western Conference. The Wild are 6-2-2 in their last 10 games, and earned a point in last night's overtime loss to Boston on NBCSN.

Dallas (38-30-8, 84 pts) has struggled down the stretch, losing its last eight games (0-6-2), including a 4-1 loss to Vancouver on Sunday. The Stars are currently five points behind St. Louis for the second Wild Card position in the Western Conference.
