Deadline.com had revealed today that Starz has given the comedies Party Down and Gravity the boot.
Stephan Shelanski, the network's executive vice president of programming tells EW.com:
"After careful consideration, we've decided not to continue on with subsequent seasons of Party Down and Gravity. We're grateful to everyone involved in the shows, and are proud to have had them on the channel. Starz remains committed to aggressively expanding our original programming lineup."
Writes Deadline.com: "The Season 2 finale of Party Down and Season one close of Gravity last week drew a 0.0 rating in adults 18-49 each and total audiences of 74,000 and 54,000, respectively. That is miniscule even for pay cable standards. And the writing has been on the wall: some of the actors on Party Down have already taken other jobs, like Adam Scott, who recently joined NBC's Parks & Recreation."
Party Down wascreated and primarily written by John Enbom, Rob Thomas, Dan Etheridge, and Paul Rudd. The half-hour comedy followed a Los Angeles, California, catering team for the titular company. The sextet of aspiring Hollywood actors and writers, as well as drifting lost souls, work small-time catering gigs while hoping for their break or some positive change in their lives. Each episode foundthe team working a new event, and inevitably getting tangled up with the colorful, affluent guests and their absurd lives.
Gravity was created by Jill Franklyn and Eric Schaeffer and premiered on April 23, 2010. The series followed exploits of a group from an eccentric out-patient program of suicide survivors.
