Paramount Worldwide Acquisitions announced today that it has acquired the North American rights to the Sarah Jessica Parker ("Divorce," "Sex and the City") drama HERE AND NOW (formerly titled Blue Night). The film will be distributed by Paramount Home Media Distribution on Digital and VOD beginning November 9, 2018, the same day that it will debut in theaters from AMBI Distribution.
HERE AND NOW premiered at this year's Tribeca Film Festival and boasts an all-star cast including Simon Baker (The Devil Wears Prada, "The Mentalist"), Common (Selma, Suicide Squad), Taylor Kinney ("Chicago Fire"), Waleed Zuaiter (20th Century Women, Sex and the City 2), with Jacqueline Bisset (Murder on the Orient Express) and Renée Zellweger (Chicago, Bridget Jones' Diary). Written by Laura Eason ("House of Cards"), the film marks the theatrical feature debut of director Fabien Constant (Mademoiselle C).
"Sarah Jessica Parker, Alison Benson and I fought so hard to bring HERE AND NOW to life because we all believed in the truth and depth of Vivienne and the characters around her," said Constant. "Drawing such a brutally honest portrait of a modern woman was a challenge that we happily took on full of passion and energy. That is why I couldn't be happier that Paramount Worldwide Acquisitions is now joining us on this journey, as it is an honor to have my first feature supported by such an iconic and respectable company. I could not be more grateful for the TRUST they are putting into this film."
Producer Alison Benson added, "It was the most rewarding creative experience for our team and now to be working with Paramount Worldwide Acquisitions is BEYOND anything we could have dreamed up."
In HERE AND NOW, Vivienne (Parker) lives in New York City as a singer/songwriter who has enjoyed a successful career with the help of her manager, Ben (Common). Upon receiving world-shattering news, she crisscrosses the city in a single day as she tries to balance her music, family, and friends, and reflect on her successes and failures. With the support of her worried mother Jeanne (Bisset) and ex-husband Nick (Baker), Vivienne strives to make peace with the city around her. The film is rated R for language and some sexuality.
HERE AND NOW was produced by Sarah Jessica Parker ("Divorce," "Sex in the City"), Alison Benson ("Divorce"), Andrea Iervolino (To The Bone, The Merchant of Venice) and Lady Monika Bacardi (To The Bone, In Dubious Battle) and was executive produced by Phil Hunt (Pride and Prejudice and Zombies), Compton Ross (Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, Black Mass), Anna Dokoza ("Flight of the Conchords"), and Luca Matrundola (In Dubious Battle).
