Lifetime received a total of 12 Emmy Award nominations this morning, the most ever in the network's history, including five nods for its hit unscripted series Project Runway, which was nominated for Outstanding Reality-Competition Program, as well as Outstanding Host for a Reality or a Reality-Competition Program for Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn. Set to return for its twelfth season tonight at 9:00pm ET/PT, the hit unscripted series was also nominated for Outstanding Cinematography for Reality Programming and Outstanding Picture Editing for Reality Programming (two nominations in the category).
In addition, Alfre Woodard was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or a Movie for her role as "Ouiser" in the Lifetime Original Movie event, Steel Magnolias. The movie's 2012 world premiere averaged 6.5 million Total Viewers, becoming Lifetime's third most-watched original telecast ever and the year's number one original movie premiere across ad supported cable among all of the key demographics (excluding miniseries).
The Lifetime original movie Ring of Fire, starring four-time Grammy-nominee Jewel as legendary country artist June Carter Cash, secured four nominations, including Outstanding Directing for a Miniseries, Movie or a Dramatic Special for Allison Anders, Outstanding Music Composition for a Miniseries Movie or a Special (Original Dramatic Score), Outstanding Hairstyling for a Miniseries or a Movie and Outstanding Makeup for a Miniseries or a Movie (Non-Prosthetic).
The biopic Liz & Dick was nominated for Outstanding Hairstyling for a Miniseries or a Movie and Outstanding Makeup for a Miniseries or a Movie (Non-Prosthetic).
