MY MUSIC: DOO WOP DISCOVERIES brings back pivotal R&B and pop vocal groups of the late fifties and sixties through long unseen archival and new live performances of their most loved hits. Icons Smokey Robinson, Mike Stoller (of the writing/producing team Lieber & Stoller), Aaron Neville, Neil Sedaka, George Clinton and others share their favorite doo wop stories and songs. Hosted by Jon "Bowzer" Bauman, formerly of Sha Na Na, this new special also includes appearances by beloved radio DJs Cousin Brucie, Don K. Reed, Bobby Jay, Jerry Blavat, Harvey Holiday, Art LaBoe and My Music series creator/executive producer TJ Lubinsky.
MY MUSIC: DOO WOP DISCOVERIES premieres on PBS stations beginning tonight, November 24, 2012 (check local listings)."I started the preservation of doo wop and classic R&B vocal groups on PBS two decades ago and since then so many great performers have passed on," says TJ Lubinsky. "It's a thrill to come full circle with this final chapter in our last, all-original doo wop shows, now archived for history. In DOO WOP DISCOVERIES, we get to share the songs we were never able to present before, along with stories from the artists who made the music."Videos
