Each year, thousands of high school students apply to the National YoungArts Foundation to be mentored by the world's leading artists. In this all-new YoungArts MasterClass special, Patti LuPone: A YOUNGARTS MASTERCLASS, Broadway legend Patti LuPone prepares four talented performers, Maggie Johnson, Ryan McCartan, Reid Watson and Kyra Wharton, for careers in theater.

Selected by the National YoungArts Foundation, an organization that identifies and supports the next generation of artists and contributes to the cultural vitality of the nation, the emerging actors receive once-in-a-lifetime individual instruction and coaching during a workshop at the Belasco Theatre on Broadway. The performers are urged to "be brave" and to "not be afraid of failure...success limits you." Before parting, LuPone encourages them to "be fearless... it's about acceptance, what your limitations are and what your limitlessness is," she explains. "You all have gifts - gifts to be grateful for, and gifts to be given away."

In 2011, A YoungArts Masterclass received an Emmy nomination in the category of Outstanding Children's Nonfiction, Reality or Reality-Competition Program. For more on the show, visit http://www.youngarts.org/patti-lupone-youngarts-masterclass.
