NBC has delivered a 1.2 rating, 3 share in adults 18-49 and 3.7 million viewers overall for the primetime ratings week of January 14-20, according to "live plus same day" viewing data from Nielsen Media Research.
Season to date, NBC ranks #1 in adults 18-49 with a 16 percent increase over its year-ago rating (with a 2.9 vs. a 2.5). NBC is also up by 14 percent in total viewers (8.4 million vs. 7.3 million) and by double-digit percentages in all other key categories. It's NBC's highest 18-49 rating at this point in the season in four years (since the 2008-09 season).
Primetime averages for the week of January 14-20 in adults 18-49 are: CBS, 4.2/12; Fox, 2.6/7; ABC, 1.7/5; NBC, 1.2/3; and CW, 0.6/2. In overall total viewers, the weekly averages were: CBS, 15.9 million; Fox, 7.5 million; ABC, 5.8 million; NBC, 3.7 million; and CW, 1.6 million.
Season to date averages through eight weeks are: NBC, 2.9/8; CBS, 2.8/8; Fox, 2.4/7; ABC, 2.3/6; and CW, 0.7/2. In overall total viewers, the season averages are: CBS, 11.7 million; NBC, 8.4 million; ABC, 7.9 million; Fox, 6.8 million; and CW, 1.8 million.
NBC highlights for the week of January 14-20Monday: "The Biggest Loser" (2.4 rating, 6 share in adults 18-49, 6.3 million viewers overall) matched its highest 18-49 rating since the "Biggest Loser 12" finale on Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2011. The January 14 "Loser" maintained 100 percent of the prior week's rating for the show's time-period premiere, despite increased competition in week two from
CBS and Fox. At 10 p.m. ET, "Deception" (1.6/4 in 18-49, 4.1 million viewers overall) tied for #1 in its hour among ABC,
CBS and
NBC in adults 18-34 (with a 1.3 rating) and women 18-34 (1.8).
Tuesday: NBC finished #2 for the night among ABC, CBS,
NBC and
FOX in 18-49, as "
Betty White's Off Their Rockers" (1.5/4 in 18-49, 5.4 million viewers overall) matched the show's highest 18-49 rating for an 8-8:30 p.m. ET telecast since April 25, 2011.
At 9 p.m. ET, "Go On" (1.7/5 in 18-49, 4.4 million viewers overall) jumped week to week by 13 percent in 18-49 rating and retained 94 percent of its 18-49 lead-in from "Off Their Rockers," up from the prior week's 79 percent. At 9:30, "The New Normal" (1.4/3 in 18-49, 3.3 million in total viewers) grew week to week by 8 percent in 18-49.
Tuesday at 10 p.m. ET, "Parenthood" (1.9/5 in 18-49, 5.0 million in total viewers) finished #1 in
The Hour over the drama competition on
ABC and
CBS in 18-49 for a sixth straight telecast.
Wednesday: An encore "Chicago Fire" (1.0/3 in adults 18-49, 3.5 million viewers overall) built on its lead-in by 67 percent in adults 18-49 (with a 1.0 vs. a 0.6), 63 percent in adults 25-54 (1.3 vs. 0.8) and 30 percent in total viewers (3.5 million vs. 2.7 million).
Thursday: "Parks and Recreation" (1.9/5 in 18-49, 3.9 million viewers overall) moved to the 8:30 p.m. ET half-hour with an 18-49 rating that equaled the show's highest since November 17, 2011. In total viewers, it was the biggest overall audience for "Parks" in the past year (since January 19, 2012). Despite competition that night from Fox's "American Idol" premiere, "Parks" scored NBC's highest rating with comedy programming in the time period since March 15, 2012.
"Parks" built on its 18-49 lead-in from "30 Rock" by 46 percent (1.9 vs. 1.3), the biggest build on lead-in for any original, regularly scheduled 8:30 comedy on ABC, CBS,
NBC and
FOX so far this season.
At 10:01 p.m. ET, "Rock Center with
BrIan Williams" (1.1/3 in 18-49, 4.4 million viewers overall) matched its highest adult 18-49 rating since November 1 and hit its highest adult 25-54 rating (1.6) and total-viewer results since that same date.
Friday: Encore telecasts of "
Betty White's Off Their Rockers" (0.9/3 in 18-49, 3.7 million viewers overall at 8 p.m. ET; 1.0/3 in 18-49, 3.7 million viewers overall at 8:30) captured NBC's highest 18-49 and total-viewer results in both half-hours in the last four weeks (since December 21).
