PAPI CHULO was written and directed by John Butler. The film stars Matt Bomer and Alejandro Patiño. It will be about of the 43rd Toronto International Film Festival's Special Presentations.

When Sean (Matt Bomer), a single TV weatherman living in Los Angeles, is put on gardening leave from work he quickly realizes that solitude doesn't exactly suit him. Driving past a hardware store, he spies Ernesto (Alejandro Patiño), a middle-aged Latino migrant with a friendly face, and hires him to do some home repairs. Soon, despite the language barrier, the two men develop an unexpected but profound friendship based on the everlasting need for connection.

PAPI CHULO is a heartfelt comedy and a fresh take on the buddy movie that explores communication across clear racial and socio-economic lines in one of the biggest cities on earth.

TIFF screenings will be announced on August 21st.
