Weeks of challenging test shoots and emotional competition came to end on the finale of Oxygen Media's competition series The Face (Tuesday, March 26th at 9 PM ET/PT) when Devyn Abdullah, from Team Karolina, secured the win and became the new brand ambassador of ULTA Beauty's Fall and Holiday 2013 National Ad Campaign. Carrie Lannon, ULTA Beauty's Director of Public Relations, and Molly Sloat, Director of Trend Development, served as judges for the heart-wrenching finale. With the stakes at its highest, the four hopefuls were told only three would get the opportunity to walk in the final Zac Posen runway show alongside their Supermodel Coaches Naomi Campbell, Karolina Kurkova and Coco Rocha. Overcome by the pressure, Devyn had a panic attack, but was determined to not let it compromise her position in the competition.
"It's been an amazing journey! All of the contestants worked hard as they competed in challenges on 'The Face,' and I'm really proud of each and every one of them," said
Naomi Campbell, Supermodel Coach and Executive Producer. "In the end, I think we picked the best model for this opportunity. Devyn is a beautiful girl with a lot of potential, and she grew so much over the course of the show. She showed a lot of passion and determination, and that, paired with her vibrant personality and ability to listen and take direction, made her the strongest model in the end. Being
The Face of ULTA Beauty will change her life. I'm thrilled that we've been able to help Devyn launch her career and make her dreams come true! I'll always be here to help and mentor her."
"While I'm proud of my entire team, I could not be more thrilled that Devyn has been named 'The Face,'" said Supermodel Coach,
Karolina Kurkova. "For me, this experience was about discovering and mentoring the future face of this business. Devyn is the perfect combination of versatility, strength, personality and drive to overcome the competition on this show and the challenges of the modeling world ahead."
Intent on finding the best brand ambassador for ULTA Beauty, the final four hopefuls, ZiLin (Team Naomi), Marguax (Team Coco), Ebony (Team Karolina) and Devyn (Team Karolina) were put to the ultimate test during an ULTA Beauty in-store challenge. Each woman had to exemplify their breadth of ULTA product knowledge while interacting with customers. Then the four contenders put their best face forward for the most important beauty shot of their career. With everything on the line, only three hopefuls were selected to move on and walk in the
Zac Posen runway show - Devyn, ZiLin and Margaux - eliminating Ebony Smith, 21, from Indianapolis, IN.
All of the skills and advice the three remaining ladies acquired throughout the competition culminated during the final
Zac Posen runway show when each hopeful walked alongside their Supermodel Coach in front of a fashion-filled audience. In the end, it was Devyn's beauty and unequivocal grace that gave her the edge over the other two competitors and secured her win on "The Face." Devyn, 21, from Team Karolina, is now the new brand ambassador of ULTA Beauty's Fall and Holiday 2013 National Ad Campaign. From the Bronx, NY, Devyn is a single mom whose life transformed as her dreams came true when she became the first winner of Oxygen's "The Face."
In the end, while ZiLin and Margaux were not selected to be "The Face" of ULTA Beauty, their careers continue to flourish. Born and raised in a traditional home in Shanghai, China, ZiLin (25) was crowned Miss China Universe in 2011. Anxious to leave the pageant circuit behind, she came to the United States to vie for "The Face" but still holds on to her ultimate dream of becoming a world-famous model. Latina beauty Margaux (22), grew up in Georgia, Costa Rica and Los Angeles and started modeling at age nine. She is currently pursuing a degree in Journalism at Fullerton College and is signed with Wilhelmina and has secured multiple jobs for national brands.
