The Hollywood Reporter has announced that Oscar nominee and 2001 Tony winner Viola Davis is negotiating to take a featured role in Columbia Picture's "Eat, Pray, Love" opposite Julia Roberts and Richard Jenkins. Scheduling is being worked out for the actress to join the production.

THR reports that Ryan Murphy has written the adaptation of Elizabeth Gilbert's memoir and will direct the film about a woman (Julia Roberts) who sets out on an international journey of self-discovery after enduring a terrible divorce. Plan B and Red Om Films are producing the film.

Davis, who was nominated this year for best supporting actress for her role in the big screen adaptation of the hit play "Doubt," would play the woman's best friend, Delia, reports the trape paper.

Viola Davis was awarded the 2001 Tony Award for Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Play for her portrayal of Tonya in King Hedley II. She has also received two Drama Desk Awards, for her work in King Headley II and, in 2004, for her work in an off-Broadway production of Intimate Apparel.
Davis has also had roles in numerous films, including three films by Steven Soderbergh (Out of Sight, Solaris, and Traffic). Her television work includes a recurring role in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit; a starring role in the short-lived Traveler; and a special guest appearance in "Badge", a Law & Order: Criminal Intent episode.
