ContactMusic is reporting the news that Robert Downey Jr. has revealed that he is writing a "complex and engaging" musical.

The Golden Globe-winning and Oscar nominated actor has been working on a script but insisted that it may never see the light of day. He spoke toLoaded magazine about the project, "I'm a little busy right now. It's always lame when somebody gets really famous and they say they're going to be a singer. I'm like, 'You've already won the lottery, so take it easy, moron!' But I'm also a composer and I sing what I write".

He continued, "I had an offer to do it for Duran Duran, when they were doing their tour. That would have been fun. Every two years or so I'm saying that I am going to do a big musical, I'm just tired of saying that I am going to do stuff that sounds cool. If I'm going to do something, I'm going to do it."

Press bio notes on the actor state that, "despite Oscar and Golden Globe nominations and the unshakeable respect of film critics and his acting peers, Robert Downey, Jr. insisted that he was not really an actor, just a good hustler who had found a way to make a living. If he did not think he was acting, it was certainly reflected in his seamless skills, which were full of natural, physical expressiveness. His uncanny portrayal of beloved silent film star "Chaplin" (1992) earned him some of the highest praise of his career, but Downey's gift was also his ability to transform a "regular person" into a creatively-detailed and thoroughly engrossing star of the show, often complete with memorable quirks". He was last seen in the films Iron Man and Tropic Thunder.
