Page Six of the New York Post reports that producers of the new hit FOX series EMPIRE are hoping to woo Oprah Winfrey to appear in a guest spot in the second season of the show which centers on a hip-hop family dynasty.
The paper reports that EMPIRE executive producer Brian Grazer was seen speaking with the media queen at at pre-Oscar party last night, and was overheard extending the invite to take on a role in the show.
A source also tells Page Six that source in attendance shared that Grazer had a special conversation with Motown founder Berry Gordy at the event and revealed that he was the inspiration for the music-themed series. "Grazer told Gordy that what he did with Motown was the foundation for the 'Empire' generation," says the source.
Other guests at the intimate affair were Bob Kraft, Ron Howard, Mick Jagger, Steve Martin, Joan Collins, Anna Wintour, Shirley MacLaine, Rosanna Arquette, Zac Posen, Karlie Kloss and Gayle King.
