It was announced today that Oprah Winfrey received a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination for her work in Lee Daniel's The Butler. E! News caught up with the actress and talk show to get her reaction on the nod.
"For someone who was trying not to embarrass myself, it is amazing," Winfrey exclusively
told E! News this morning at the Hollywood Reporter's Women in Entertainment Breakfast in
Beverly Hills.
"The best part is it is a jury of your peers," she added. "It's people who do this for a living-don't make me cry now!-It's people who do this for a living saying we're going to give you a vote. We think what you did deserves this."
Oprah also couldn't help but praise her fellow nominees including close friend
Julia Roberts. "I haven't texted her because I was getting ready but I was with her the other night and she's a dear friend. And that Lupita? Oh, my God! You know, it truly is one of those awards just to be nominated is the real deal."
In an awards season that's just getting started, Oprah certainly has a lot to look forward to. "I'm going to do exactly what I said to people for years when they came on my show during awards season, 'Just ride the wave. Enjoy it!'" she said.
Also at the breakfast, sponsored by Audi and Samsung Galaxy, were
Demi Lovato, Maria Shriver, Kim and Khloé Kardashian,
Kanye West,
Nikki Reed,
Judy Greer and
Jane Fonda.
