NBC presents live coverage of the 2018 New Balance 5th Avenue Mile from New York City this Sunday, Sept. 9, at Noon ET. Live, commercial-free coverage of the event will be streamed with a subscription to NBC Sports Gold's "Track and Field Pass." The race, in its 38th year, will also be streamed live via authentication on NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app.
Stretching 20 blocks on 5th Avenue, the race is expected to draw 7,000 runners. Olympic 1500m bronze medalist Jenny Simpson chases her seventh win in the event after winning the race for a record sixth time last year. This year she faces 2017 world 3000m steeplechase champion Emma Coburn. Rio Olympic 1500m gold medalist Matthew Centrowitz is expected to headline the men's field, and will be challenged by New Zealand's two-time Olympic medalist Nick Willis, who races for a record fifth title.
