Columbia Records' UK chart-topper Olly Murs has been named Radio Disney's "N.B.T." (Next Big Thing). Since 2010, the multi-platform radio, online and TV programming feature has championed young recording artists, showcasing them on their journey to contributing their unique talents and turning their dreams into near- and long-term careers.
The short form "N.B.T." series will explore the story behind Olly Murs, whose music has spent a total of 52 weeks on the Radio Disney charts, and the inspiration and motivation that led to his successful UK career and burgeoning global popularity. "N.B.T." cameras will join him in the recording studio, on production of his music video, and as he prepares for the upcoming U.S. release of his new album, "Never Been Better," on March 10 and a world tour.
"Radio Disney has been a fan of Olly Murs since we added his single 'Heart Skips A Beat' to our rotation in June of 2012," said Phil Guerini, VP, Programming and General Manager, Radio Disney. "We're excited to team up with him for the U.S. launch of his fourth studio album and further familiarize our audience to the global talent that is Olly Murs."
Radio Disney's "N.B.T." is presented nationally on Radio Disney, Disney Channel, the Radio Disney app, the WATCH Disney Channel app, RadioDisney.com, social media platforms, and at Radio Disney events in various cities across the U.S. Featured artists are introduced throughout the year. Recent "N.B.T." artists include Island Records' Shawn Mendes and The Vamps, Kemosabe/RCA Records' Becky G, Hollywood Records' R5 and Epic Records' Fifth Harmony.
Murs began his music career in 2009 on the UK's "The X Factor" (season six runner-up). Now with three multiplatinum albums, four #1 singles, sell-out arena tours, and total record sales exceeding 10 million under his belt, Murs is a force to be reckoned with. His new album, "Never Been Better," is set for release in the U.S. on March 10 and has already become his third-consecutive UK #1 album. It features riveting guest appearances, beginning with the funk-infused debut single "Wrapped Up" featuring Gym Class Heroes front-man, Travie McCoy, a writing pair-up with iconic British artist Paul Weller, Demi Lovato on the song "Up," and Ryan Tedder on "Seasons," among others.
