Official! Elizabeth Banks to Direct PITCH PERFECT 3

Variety reports exclusively that Elizabeth Banks will return to helm the next installment of the musical comedy series PITCH PERFECT.

It has been previously announced that Anna Kendrick, Brittany Snow and Rebel Wilson will also reprise their characters in the upcoming film with Kay Cannon on board to write the script. Universal also revealed that the third installmetn will hit theaters on November 4, 2017.

The original 2012 film PITCH PERFECT grossed $113 million globally. PITCH PERFECT 2, which was made on a budget of $29 million, has already doubled that amount and then some, grossing $286 million worldwide to date. The original film was adapted from Mickey Rapkin's book "Pitch Perfect: The Quest for Collegiate A Cappella Glory."

Banks was most recently seen on the big screen in the Brian Wilson biopic "Love & Mercy." She will next appear in "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2" and is set to host "Saturday Night Live" on Nov. 14.
