Octavia Spencer, Channing Tatum et al to Host 'City Year Celebration', 5/5

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Octavia Spencer and Channing Tatum will be among the stars hosting the City Year's Second Annual Spring Break: Destination Education fundraising event. The event will take place at the Sony Pictures Studios Lot in Culver City, California on May 5.

Joining Spencer and Tatum will be Emma Stone, Emily Vancamp, Dianna Agron, Jason Bateman, Matt Bomer, Jessica Chastain, America Ferrara, Rashida Jones, Sofia Vergara, and Ed Westwick. City Year is a nonprofit organization that teams with public schools to help keep students in school through graduation. The organization holds the event to raise money for its initiatives. Spring Break: Destination Education will also pay tribute to its 210 AmeriCorps members who volunteer as tutors and mentors to more than 2,000 students.

City Year Los Angeles Executive Director Allison Graff Weisner commented, "City Year works because our corps members provide the intensive academic and emotional support students need to believe in themselves and succeed. Spring Break: Destination Education is a chance for us to bring the Los Angeles community together to highlight the progress we've made in tackling the high school dropout crisis."
