OWN: OPRAH WINFREY NETWORK delivered solid growth in third quarter 2014 posting gains across key demos in prime (+7% W25-54, +12% total viewers and +18% African-American W25-54) vs. the prior quarter.
OWN was the #1 cable network in Q3 on Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday nights for African-American women on the strength of its popular drama series on Tuesdays from Tyler Perry ("The Haves and the Have Nots" and "If Loving You is Wrong"), comedies on Wednesdays ("For Better or Worse" and "Love Thy Neighbor") and its Saturday night series ("Iyanla: Fix My Life," "Six Little McGhees" and "Welcome to Sweetie Pie's").
OWN was Tuesday night's #3 cable network for W25-54 (.72 rating). "The Haves and Have Nots" was the #4 original series in all of ad-supported cable for W25-54 (2.42 rating) averaging over 3 million total viewers. It is the #1 original cable series in primetime for African American women (13.31 rating). New episodes return in January. The new Tuesday drama "If Loving You is Wrong" delivered the most-watched series premiere in network history on Sept. 9 with 1.93 million viewers and a 1.47 rating in the key W25-54 demo up triple digits (+206%) vs. one year ago. It is Tuesday night's #6 original cable series for W25-54 (1.35 rating) and #5 original cable series in primetime for African American women (9.23 rating).
Wednesday nights in Q3 made OWN the #1 cable network for African-American women and total viewers with Tyler Perry comedies "For Better or Worse" and "Love Thy Neighbor." "For Better or Worse," which returned to the primetime lineup on Sept 17 with 1.3 million viewers and a 1.0 rating W25-54, delivered the series' best performance since it debuted on the network one year ago. It was Wednesday night's #1 original cable series for African American W25-54 (5.02 rating). "Love Thy Neighbor" was Wednesday nights #2 original cable series for African American Women (4.63 rating).
On Saturday nights "Iyanla: Fix My Life" was the night's #1 original series on ad-supported cable for W25-54 (.78 rating) in Q3. Its Sept. 20 episode delivered 1.15 million total viewers and a .99 rating in the network's key W25-54 demo making it the highest rated episode since November 2013 and the third most watched episode in the history of the series on OWN. "Six Little McGhees" tied its second highest rating in the history of the series with its premiere on Saturday, Sept. 6 (.63 rating W25-54).
