ORPHAN BLACK Returns with Highest Showing Yet in Adults 18-49

BBC AMERICA's award-winning thriller, Orphan Black, returned Saturday night with its highest ever A18-49 rating. The series saw a 97% increase in A18-49, doubling the season one average, and is now second only to the channel's highest rated series Doctor Who in A18-49. In addition, Orphan Black was the #1 television show on Twitter and Tumblr for the day and is the #1 basic cable drama on Twitter for the week.

Orphan Black recorded a total of 785,000 in P2+ Live+SD Cume.* In its 9:00pm premiere it delivered 620,000 in P2+ and 391,000 in A18-49.

On Saturday, the series reached a new high on Twitter, reaching 1.2 million unique users with over 43,000 tweets about the show. This is up +185% from the previous best (season one finale) and nearly six times greater than the series premiere. The premiere episode alone generated nearly 36,000 tweets, beating several high profile premieres this season including: Fargo, Homeland, True Detective, Vikings, The Americans, Turn and Arrow. On Tumblr, in the month leading up to the premiere there were 1.8 million notes on posts about Orphan Black, including 277,000 on Saturday.

From co-creators Graeme Manson and John Fawcett, Orphan Black hit the ground running with Sarah (Golden Globe(R) nominee Tatiana Maslany) in a desperate race to find her missing daughter Kira (Skyler Wexler) - a wild pursuit that brings her head-to-head with ruthless pro-clone, Rachel (Maslany). This season also rejoins Sarah's clone sisters Alison (Maslany) and Cosima (Maslany) as they struggle to keep their clone WORLD a secret while dealing with the harsh reality that no one around them can be trusted. In the upcoming episode, Alison struggles with Aynsley's death and Cosima grapples with the worsening symptoms of her mysterious sickness, Sarah enlists Art's (Kevin Hanchard) help to find Kira and is shocked when she learns where the trail leads. The Peabody Award winning series is produced by Temple Street Productions in association with BBC America and Bell Media. Orphan Black's first season premiered on BBC America on Saturday, March 30, 2013 following the season premiere of Doctor Who.
