On this episode of ONCE UPON A TIME, the Snow Queen's evil plan for Storybooke reached its boiling point! As we previously saw, the Snow Queen wanted to cast the 'Spell of Shattered SIght' upon Storybrooke, which would drive everyone in town in kill one another. Emma and Elsa were immune to the Snow Queen's spell due to the enchanted ribbons, but everyone else was subject to its power.

By some miracle, Elsa was able to find a necklace belonging to Anna. The fairies in town realize that they can either use the necklace to reverse the Snow Queen's incoming spell or locate Anna and reunite the sisters; there is only enough time for one option. Elsa switches the necklace with a handful of pebbles behind everyone's backs, escaping with the only chance the town has at survival. Emma catches up with Elsa right as she's performing a locator spell with the necklace, but the spell surprisingly leads them to a beach.

In a flashback to Arandelle, we saw Anna attempt to find Elsa by locating a Wishing Star, a magical star that could bring Elsa back home to Arandelle. Anna and Kristoff pay a visit to Blackbeard to find the Wishing Star, but they are halted by the evil Hans. Hans was set on ruling Arandelle and killing Anna and Kristoff in the process. Hans locks Anna and Kristoff in a trunk and throws it to the bottom of the ocean. If you haven't guessed, the ocean is the same beach as the one from Elsa's locator spell! The power of the necklace lifts the trunk out of the ocean; it turns out Anna's necklace itself was the Wishing Star. The sisters are finally reunited!

Meanwhile, Rumpelstiltskin had a plot of his own. In order to escape the spell and Storybooke itself, Rumpel desired to harness the power of all the fairies in town in order to break free of his dagger's power, thus allowing him to leave town with Belle and Henry in tow. Rumpel recruits Hook against his will to help him; he forces Hook to steal the Sorcerer's Hat and obtain the fairies' magic.

As the Snow Queen's spell begins to loom over Storybrooke, the residents begin to prepare for the impending storm. Snow and Charming request to be locked in jail in order not to hurt anyone, leaving baby Neil in Emma's care. Regina locks Henry in her office and puts in protection spell around the room, while Rumpelstiltskin encases Belle in a protection spell of her own in his pawn shop. As the episode closes, the Snow Queen's spell finally hits Storybrooke, and the look in Snow's eyes suggests the Snow Queen has won.

Luckily, a few people will be immune to the spell in the next episode; Emma and Elsa by Ingrid's will; Anna, because she had been affected by the spell in the past; and Rumpelstiltskin, because he is the Dark One. The fate of Storybrooke lies in their hands, but how will they stop this horrendous spell before a civil war breaks out?

I think the only way to bring the town to peace would be to persuade the Snow Queen into ending the spell. If someone, most likely Emma and/or Elsa, could convince Ingrid that her intentions were more than terrible, she could reverse the spell. There's no need to kill an entire town in order for Ingrid to become part of a family once again. I'm sure if Emma and Elsa promised her a place within the Storybrooke community, she would lift the curse. After all, a family is all the Snow Queen really wants.

Until the curse is halted, we've got to worry about the everyone in town tearing each other to pieces! I'm wondering just how this spell is going to operate- will old enemies turn on each other once again, or will the 'murdering' process be completely random? Will the protection spells currently shielding Belle and Henry really save them from feeling the affects of the curse? And most importantly, will this curse cause the death of one of our beloved characters? After losing Neil last season, I never say never when it comes to death on this show.

With just two episodes left until the winter finale, matters have never been more dire for Storybrooke! Will the impending spell cause the civil war we've feared all season? Keep tuning in to ONCE UPON A TIME, 8pm EST Sundays on ABC!
